The Billy Club Bastard Case Files: Bourbon, Bullets, Broads, and Bourbon: The Index
Bourbon, Bullets, Broads, and Bourbon is the first anthology in The Billy Club Bastard Case Files series and the second release in Vigilance, Season 1. It introduces Mickey Malloy, a burnt-out P.I. with a strange past and a grim side hustle. As a man who’d thought he’d already given everything he could, he is initially hesitant to join the war against fascism. When he sees what is really at stake, and what the Nazis and their allies are willing to do to win, he dives into battle head-first.
Bourbon, Bullets, Broads, and Bourbon is now available as a Kindle ebook, in paperback, or as a DRM-free ePub.
In the first story, Mickey is minding his own business when a familiar name pops up somewhere it shouldn’t have been. Chasing that scrap down the rabbit hole gets him in far deeper than he ever intended. The Case of the Smiling Smuggler is a five-part novella that ran from September 21 to October 17, 2022. (Parts 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.)
We next catch up with Mickey almost a year later. He is still strapped for cash and has gotten in deep with unsavory elements. Those elements task him with the unlikely (chasing down a legendary ghost) and the unsavory (chasing that ghost down in New Orleans). When he finds his mark about to kick off a job with explosive consequences, he has to put on his infamous black bandanna and hit like a earthquake. The Case of the Candy-Coated Dynamite is a six-part novella that ran from October 24 to November 28, 2022. (Parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.)
Since New Orleans, Mickey Malloy has reluctantly rejoined the secret organization known as the Office. They’ve decided to send him into Charleston, South Carolina, hunting a weapons deal and a missing official. He has no clues and no leads, and all anyone is talking about is the heinous murders that have been plaguing the city. As long as he’s there, he might as well help catch a killer. The Case of the Holy City Head Hunter is a seven-part novella that ran from December 5, 2022 to January 16, 2023. (Parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.)
Mickey Malloy finds the mountain of town of Rooksford Glen anything but sleepy when he’s on the hunt for a pair of missing federal agents. He always finds his man, but has he also stumbled onto something far more terrifying and incomprehensible than kidnappers? The Case of the Rooksford Glen Horror is an homage to Lovecraftian cosmic horror and ran as a one-part story on January 23, 2023. (The whole dang thing.)
When decoder Doriane Tremblay discovers that a pattern between Nazi weapon shipments and the sighting of a local ghost, Mickey Malloy decides that she needs to see for herself what kind of beehive she kicks every time she files a report. Putting a young official in danger is the last thing he’d ever want to do, but with a storm cutting them off and enemies he’s never seen before ahead, he might’ve cost Doriane her life. The Case of the Gray Man’s Grim Tidings is the three-part short story finale to Bourbon, Bullets, Broads, and Bourbon. It ran from January 30 to February 13, 2023. (Parts 1, 2, and 3.)
