The Bastion Americana Freedom Journal, Issue II: 25 July, 1943
After the explosive events of The Secret Files of Lucky Ford: The Dragon, the Wolf, and the Maiden the Axis’ propaganda machine went into high gear, churning out misinformation to twist the truth to fit their story. One of the most effective psychological weapons at their disposal is the Bastion Americana Freedom Journal.
This issue contains spoilers from Hercules Chen, Zero Hunter: Toroka VS Mecha-Tsuyo.
This is issue II of the Bastion Americana Freedom Journal. For more information, please refer to the analysis of Issue I.
Content warnings: Violence, death, creeps, Nazis, gaslighting.
The second issue of the Bastion Americana Freedom Journal appeared all over the United States exactly one week after the first. The newsletter’s shocking debut was discussed all over the country. Its outlandish stories were being picked up by national papers and radio programs because they offered answers that made some kind of sense in a senseless world. Beside the Bloody Dawn, its claims about the Office were the only things the American people were talking about in diners, from pulpits, and on Capitol Hill.
Though it had taken everyone by surprise the week before, its front page announcement was beyond what even the Office anticipated…
The Journal’s front page is provided below:

MEN WITH GUTS STAND UP TO PROTECT THE AMERICAN LEGACY
THE OFFICIAL FORMATION OF THE GARRISONIAN PARTY MARKS A NEW CHAPTER IN U.S. HISTORY
Washington, DC – A new class of man is venturing into the fetid swamp that is our nation's capitol, a new species of policy-maker that vows to cut out the pulsing cancers of corruption and war-mongering that have poi-soned our promised land.
As of yesterday, the Freedom Journal is proud to be the official voice of a new wave of American crusaders, men who fight for you, for your land, for your God, for your children, and for your way of life: the Garrisonian Party. Formed to keep American lives and riches here at home, to keep the specter of foreign war at bay, to halt the crushing tide of Communism, cronyism, corruption, racial integration, and Zionism from drowning this great experiment in democracy. With your help, dear patriots, we will make America swerve back onto its rightful path to become the great nation it was meant to be, again.
The visionary behind this movement, this ideal, this crusade, is Clyde Lehrer. Clyde (pictured above) is normally a somber man, a quiet captain of industry who prefers whiskey to rhetoric, but every man has their breaking point, where sitting silent is no longer an option. Seeing the federal government force American youth into the meat-grinder of a European war was a sight he could not stand.
“Let those foreigners fight their own wars. I wouldn't put my son in the way of a bullet to save a Semite or a Red, and I won't let them put your children there, either,” he vowed in a historic speech before nearly ten thousand disaffected parents, wives, factory workers, farmers, and youths near old enough to face the draft. “If it were up to me, I'd make Roosevelt cart his own self onto the battlefield before his draft boards killed a single one of your kids.”
Before this foray into public service, Lehrer was a doughboy in the Great War, conscripted against his will for a foreign war, an act he vows to never allow to happen again to American boys. He fought bravely for the men beside him and for the family and business he was planning back home, in the great heartland state of Missouri. Yes, Clyde Lehrer is known for his selfless service, both in our great military and as a provider and job creator, single-handedly lifting his fellow citizens (Cont'd p. 2)
This article includes a photo of Clyde Lehrer without a caption. An unknown official has drawn X’s over his eyes, horns on his head, and a toothbrush mustache on his upper lip.
Possibly the same unknown official has inscribed the following notes on the newsletter’s front page:
”Lehrer: known associates - Lindbergh, Kerper, Haldemann, Coughlin”
”Veteran? Run service records through Ada”

IVANS BUTCHER YIELDING SOLDIERS AT KURSK WHILE JAPS RAVAGE NEUTRAL CITY OF MACAU
Washington, DC – Even as Communist forces overrun their wearied, retreating opponents in Kursk, USSR, committing atrocities unheard of in modern war, the Japanese Empire has abandoned all pretense of civility to violate the defenseless, neutral city of Macau.
“This Office claims to fight for us, but they spend American lives and resources in Europe. Look at what the Japs are doing to defenseless neutral people and where are we to find our foreign puppeteers?” Clyde Lehrer, chairman of the Garrisonian Party rightly asked during an interview on Monday morning.
Lehrer continued: “We have the will and ability to take the fight to the Japs, the savages who slaughter civilians and who attacked us first, yet the Office insists we let them have free rein to conquer - " (Cont'd p. 5)

THE ONLY RED SHOULD BE ON OUR FLAG. REPORT COMMUNIST ACTIVITY TO THE AMERICAN PRESERVATION LEAGUE. More information on page 6.
Bureau for Cataloguing and Reference Analysis:
Although Office agents were able to track several of the deliveries, all print shops and distribution services involved reported that they were anonymously and privately contracted to produce and deliver the newsletters. All investigations dead-ended without positive determination of the origins of the newsletter.
The American Preservation League is a known Silver Legion cell. Although their activities have been limited to public protests and marches, further observation will be necessary now that a connection between the Legion and the Journal has been established. As the Legion is at least partially sponsored by the Abwehr, it is exponentially more imperative to document the Journal’s financial backers.
Mister Lehrer’s attorneys would not agree to an interview. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has taken the lead on gathering background information on him and his dealings.
No further information could be found corroborating the existence of an ‘Arnold Pondletter.’
The ‘Garrisonian Party’ has yet to be registered as a political organization in any state. As opposed to the previous issue, the newsletter now features a prominent endorsement by the Garrisonian Party of America.
